By diffusing the incoming daylight, PAR+ distributes light intensity more evenly across the crop. This results in screens needing to close later or less frequently, the crop being able to handle a higher PAR sum, and reduced stress without any loss of light.

FOTONIQ GROWTH INSIGHTS

Dear reader,
We’re excited to share our latest results, insights and highlights from May with you!

With PAR+, you no longer need to close your screens!  ☀️

During periods of intense solar radiation, crops can suffer from light stress, which can lead to: water stress, growth retardation, 'going limp' and burnt fruits and flowers. Traditionally, growers therefore close their screens to protect the crop. While this reduces stress at the top of the crop, it also blocks valuable sunlight and can disrupt the climate in the greenhouse.

💡 Fortunately, with our PAR+ coating, things can be done differently.
By diffusing the incoming daylight, PAR+ distributes the light intensity more evenly over the crop. This ensures that:

✔️ Screens need to be closed later or less often
✔️ The crop can handle a higher PARsom
✔️ Stress is reduced, without loss of light

We see this reflected in practice, for example at NH Paprika. Here we monitor the PAR values at the top of the crop under our PAR+ coating vs. the department without our coating. On a sunny day, the screens in the uncoated part of the greenhouse had to be closed around 12:00 noon. In our PAR+ section, this was not necessary, allowing 20% more daylight to enter, without stress or damage to the crop. The result? Healthier plants, better growth, and more efficient use of daylight.

Below you can see our measurements. The blue line represents the clear glass, while the green line shows our PAR+ coating. The data reflects light intensity in µmol/m²/s (micromoles per square meter per second).

Curious what PAR+ coating can do for your crop?
We’d be happy to discuss the possibilities.

Highlights May

1. Since this month, our PAR+ coating is giving the "greenhouse of Gebr. Vahl" even more power!  PAR+ reduces stress in the top of the plant, improves light-use efficiency and boosts cucumber yield  📈

2. This month, our colleague Joris gave a masterclass at Tomatoworld. He explained how we use sensors and data analysis to measure the impact of PAR+, helping us get the most out of the coating. The event was a great opportunity to share knowledge and discuss the role of data in the horticultural sector!

3. 🎥 Behind the scenes bij Fotoniq!
Meet Chiara, our Lead Formulation Engineer. In this video , she shares more about her role, what motivates her and a few fun facts that make her an indispensable part of the FOTONIQ team.💡

Planning June

1. We’ll be at GreenTech Amsterdam 2025 next week! You can find us at booth number 01.261G at NLplaza. Several of our colleagues will also be walking around to answer any questions. Visit us to learn how our PAR+ coating can benefit your crop!

2.
In the coming months, we will be applying our PAR+ coating at several new projects. Be sure to keep an eye on our LinkedIn to stay up to date! ✨

3. For all growers who are members of a vegetable growers' association in the Netherlands: you can receive partial reimbursement for the purchase of PAR+ through the SIG&F subsidy. Contact us for more information.
